Work and break phases switch automatically: when your 30-minute focus session ends, a chime plays and your break timer begins. No need to watch the clock or reset manually.

Not a strict 25-minute person? Use the preset buttons to switch between 25/5, 30/6, 45/9, or 50/10 work/break splits in one tap. You can also dial in any custom duration to match your personal rhythm.

The timer runs entirely in your browser tab — the countdown stays visible in the page title so you always know where you are, even when you switch windows.

An Introduction to the Pomodoro technique

The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It structures work into focused intervals separated by short breaks, which helps sustain concentration and reduce mental fatigue.

  • Standard interval: 25 minutes of focused work, followed by a 5-minute break. After four sessions, take a longer 15–20 minute break.
  • One task per interval: commit to a single task for each session and resist switching. If a new thought comes up, write it down and return to it later.
  • Protect your breaks: step away from the screen. A short walk, a glass of water, or a stretch works better than scrolling.
  • Adapt the length: longer tasks or deep work often suit 45- or 50-minute sessions. Shorter tasks or low-energy periods may call for 25 minutes. Adjust until the rhythm feels natural.
  • Track distractions: when something interrupts you, note it and return to your task. Over time, patterns emerge and you can plan around them.
